Building a Competitive Apparel Line From Concept to Production
The objective was to launch a new line of wrestling singlets capable of competing with established industry leaders known for production quality and scalable, vector-based design systems. While competitors excelled at clean, repeatable graphics, the category had become visually constrained, with most brands underutilizing the full color range and visual impact made possible by sublimation printing.
The challenge was to meet and exceed industry standards for scalability, print precision, and production efficiency while differentiating in a crowded market. This required pushing beyond conventional design approaches without introducing risk to manufacturing workflows or consistency. The goal was to create a bold, high-impact product line that leveraged the depth, saturation, and durability of full-color sublimation, while remaining production-ready and scalable across multiple sports, age groups, and team levels.
Product Design & Manufacturing Leadership
I led the initiative end to end, owning both creative direction and production execution while managing and mentoring a direct report. I trained and guided the designer on scalable design systems, production constraints, and sublimation best practices to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
I defined a differentiated design strategy that expanded beyond traditional vector-only approaches, creating bold, high-impact visuals optimized for full-color sublimation while maintaining scalability and print precision. In parallel, I oversaw operational execution, managing large-format print workflows, fabric selection, and quality control across heat transfer, cutting, sewing, and final assembly within a lean production environment.
I worked closely with sales partners to align design solutions with client goals, ensuring the product line met both aesthetic and performance expectations across teams, age groups, and competitive levels. My role balanced creative innovation, operational efficiency, and customer outcomes—delivering a scalable product system capable of competing directly with category leaders.

The launch generated immediate and sustained demand, resulting in a backlog of orders and repeat purchases, along with ongoing requests for new designs and styles. What began as a limited run of state-specific singlets quickly scaled into a broader lineup featuring additional states and fully custom designs validating both the creative direction and the production model.
